The day has just begun and there are already tasks piling on my “to do” list for the day, so how do I find my running inspiration to get going? Believe me, it is not always easy and there are many times at nine at night I debate on not running at all, but then I hear my inner voice and it gets me going. I can inspire you so that you can always find the inner strength. Even on the hardest of days that it is to get going, I always feel satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment when I complete my run. Are you ready for some running inspiration? Then follow my “inspire” tips.
1. Do Not over Think Your Running Plans
I used to rise at 4am to squeeze a workout or run in because it was the only time I had to exercise in the day. If I stayed in bed thinking about the workout, I could have easily talked myself out of it. Of course the warm bed was always so relaxing, but I did not think any further, I would get up and just go. So for your running inspiration, I want you do just get out for your run.
2. Make a Goal and Stick to It
If you have 6 miles down for your daily running goal, make sure you stick to your running plan. Unless injury is in your way there is no reason to change your daily goal. I have many days when I am tired and I would much rather run a 4 mile run than the 8 miles I had planned, but I never give in to my “inner lazy.” We all have days where we struggle, but it is important to push yourself to accomplish your goal and kick laziness to the curb!
3. Accentuate the Positive, Eliminate the Negative
We can always list obstacles in life that get in the way but if we focus on the positive, I promise you will get so much more accomplished. So look at one major positive and that is, you are healthy and have mobility to be able to run. You are fortunate, so be thankful and use what you got!
4. Challenge Yourself
If you always run the downhill of the major hill in your run, I want you to switch things up a bit and challenge yourself on your next run. Life would not be as much fun without these challenges. I promise you will feel much stronger after you complete this hill and this will push you to find your inner strength. You may have not even known you had this within you!
5. Reward Yourself with New Running Gear
How great do you feel when you wear new running clothes? A new pair of running shorts and running top can help motivate you to get out on your next run. Studies show you can actually run quicker by wearing fitted fitness clothes. So be fashionable on your next run in your fitted gear and have fun. After all, that is one of the reasons we run, right?
6. Don’t Give up
We all have off days when the last thing we want to do is go for a run, but it is important to accept that the feeling is normal. Make sure you schedule 1-2 days of rest a week to rejuvenate you for your runs. And if you are tired mid run, push yourself to go that extra mile and I guarantee when you complete this you will be glad you did it! Just never give up!
7. Channel Your Inner Sexy
Let’s face it, being able to have the strength to go for a several mile run is sexy. You are stronger physically and mentally as a result of your runs. You will have more toned legs, a tight rear, and even a tight stomach! So channel your inner sexy and get out for a run. I promise you that you will be so glad that you did it!
I will be looking for you on the roads and maybe we can even run a mile or two together! What will your next run be? Will you challenge yourself to go the “extra mile”?
